BMA Colorado worked with the Online Marketing Institute to develop a social media certification program tailored specifically to B2B marketers. The chapter is extending its discounted rate to the broader BMA membership.
“Whenever we ask marketers about their pain points, we hear about social media,” says Marilee Yorchak, executive director of BMA Colorado. “People are being asked to take on social media at work. They are looking at it as a valuable skill set.”
Aaron Kahlow, CEO-OMI, developed the certification program. It includes 13 hours of online instruction, covering everything from lead generation to analytics and visual storytelling. Students have six months to complete the program and take a certification exam.
Katherine Hughes, marketing manager-EKS&H, became one of the first BMA members to enroll in the program. She is preparing to take the lead on the accounting and business consulting firm’s social media strategy.
“There is so much noise surrounding social media,” Hughes says. “It’s imperative that I am current on the topic. Social media will continue to grow in importance, and companies are clearly seeking marketers who are well-versed on the subject.”
