BMA:FWD is the young professionals arm of BMA-NYC comprised of forward-thinking individuals ranging from recent college graduates to those who have typically been in the marketing and advertising industry for less than ten years. The organization is led by a group emerging marketers from such organizations as Google, Bloomberg, Crains and The Wall Street Journal, as well as such NYC-based agencies as Doremus and Stein Rogan + Partners.
BMA:FWD focuses on issues that affect young marketers such as, moving up in the industry, knowing the right people and preparing to take the reigns as leaders of the marketing and advertising industry in the near future. Past events have included a roundtable discussion on the future of media hosted by Bloomberg, Google’s outlook on the future of digital marketing, a career panel hosted by The Wall Street Journal, speed networking with industry leaders, as well as several other networking events.

On March 26th, 2014, the Business Marketing Association’s NYC young professional group, the BMA:FWD, held the first event of the 2014 Innovate FWD series with Casker’s Craft Spirits. Steven Abt, the co-found of Casker’s, discussed the success of his start-up company along with Marissa Pick, co-chair of the BMA:FWD, and he also took questions from the audience.
Attendees learned about the history of Steven's company, and how he and his business partner discovered an untapped market for offering exclusive craft spirits online that are not available at your local spirits store. Casker’s saw initial success through PR opportunities and features on Bloomberg, TC, Thrillist, BlackBook, and Urban Daddy which quickly expanded their customer base. Although they had great initial success and continue to grow, Steven provided insights around the struggles and obstacles that Casker’s faced when launching the business and the importance of trusting your judgment. He also discussed their evolving customer base. Marketing efforts which were primarily directed more towards men have shifted to target both men and women, with a surprising percentage of their returning customers being female. Additionally, Steven shared insights into the role that social media and email marketing play within the business and customer retention.
From there attendees partook in a whiskey tasting of select artisinal spirits available exclusively on Casker’s site. Overall it was a fun and educational evening with over 40+ attendees.

On October 17th, 2013 the Business Marketing Association’s NYC young professional group, the BMA:FWD, held an event at one of the Lower East Side's prominent music venues, Arlene's Grocery. Members listened as up and coming bands participated in the CMJ showcase including a performance from Brooklyn band, Hawk & Dove.
After the performance the group had the opportunity to hear some inside perspective on social and digital marketing within the music scene. The Social Media Marketing Director from Arlene’s Grocery shared key insights into his strategy to facilitate engagement with the attendees. He discussed his strategy to raise awareness of the venue and attract and retain new visitors into the venue.
The Hawk & Dove band members stopped by after their set to discuss how they leverage the various social media platforms to engage with their audience and drive retention. They discussed their strategy on Twitter and how they engage and leverage influencers to build a deeper connection with their core audience.
