Telecommunications giant Sprint Nextel Corp. was on Tuesday named Communicator of the Year by the Business Marketing Association of New York City. Sprint won the recognition or its “Biz 360” marketing campaign targeting small and midsize businesses. “The connections that we’re able to drive for small and medium-size business owners is not only an invaluable way to connect, but it’s also a way to drive operational efficiencies,” said Andrea Molette, director-media and corporate marketing at Sprint Nextel, who accepted the award on behalf of the company.
Sprint rolled out “Biz 360” in August as a communications package featuring phones, applications and support aimed at the SMB.
“Our approach to the business market is with the same vigor and discipline and passion that we would our consumer markets, that’s the starting point,” Molette said. “We also engage a world-class agency, Mindshare, to develop those plans [and] try to understand business owners’ needs and bring them to life.”
The award ceremony, which was held at the Edison Hotel in midtown Manhattan, drew 120 B2B marketing and advertising executives from both the agency and corporate precincts.
The Communicator of the Year is award is in recognition of outstanding B2B marketing communication that advances a general appreciation of the power of B2B marketing and advertising, according to Ned Clausen, executive director of the BMA of New York City.
