Kellen Company has named Kelly Antonou as senior account executive responsible for overseeing management of the Business Marketing Association. Antonou will work with the international board of directors and with the executive director to support the implementation of strategic initiatives and goals. She is based in Chicago.
Antonou is not new to the BMA. She managed member services when the organization first began to work with association management company Landon, Farrey & Associates, now known as the Kellen Co. She already knows many of the business marketers who are part of the organization. And she brings to the table experience as general manager of the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council.
“Kelly's background has truly been and will be a wonderful benefit to BMA,” says Al Maag, BMA executive director. “Her experience in both publishing and managing other associations will help me not only on project management and execution, but also on strategy. When I discuss a new idea and she agrees, it's like hitting a homerun because she is so knowledgeable and experienced.
“She also tells me to keep walking on some of them. It’s like an old relative moving back into town who knows everything about your family.”
Antonou will assist a BMA board that is pushing forward new initiatives designed to help its members navigate a changing industry.
The association has positioned itself for growth, last year naming Maag to the long vacant position of executive director. The first international chapter launched in Dubai, and the annual conference outgrew its event space.
The board has elevated its focus on independent industry research. A new Forrester Research-BMA report released this week focuses on 2014 budgeting. And a new international board-level research committee is outlining its agenda as part of a new partnership with the FORUM at Northwestern University.
There are a lot of moving parts. “With the BMA there are so many ideas,” Antonou says. “These are idea people. I’m kind of the border collie, making sure all of the projects, the details are getting done.”
