Al-Jazeera center offers variety of training in 2006
A journalism training center run by the popular Al-Jazeera news channel has released its 2006 course calendar. Much like last year, the center is offering a wide variety of courses for journalists who can afford tuition.
The Al-Jazeera Media Training and Development Center offers courses taught by experienced trainers, through a contract with the U.K.-based Thomson Foundation. Since it opened nearly two years ago, the center says, more than 2,500 journalists have participated in more than 170 training courses.
The center is offering 78 courses in 2006, including a wide range of print, broadcast and online journalism training. Courses last from three days to four weeks, depending on the program. Tuition fees range from US$685 to $3,835, not including lodging or living expenses.
Course topics include editing, reporting, production, online news, photojournalism, media management, electronic archiving, and many others.
