American Islamic Congress sponsors video contest
Young filmmakers and screenwriters can submit short films and screenplays to a competition.
The 2011 Eye to Heart competition calls for entries in Arabic, English, French, Farsi or Urdu. Entrants must be residents or citizens of an Arab League member state, Iran, Afghanistan or Pakistan.
Entries are accepted in five categories - defining moment, entrepreneurship, a view from the future, transformation and repression - from residents or citizens of an Arab League member state, Iran, Afghanistan or Pakistan.
Ten winners will be chosen to receive US$2,000 and a chance to have their screenplay turned into a movie or their film shown at an international film festival.
Films must be between one and seven minutes long with a brief synopsis. Screenplays can be 2,000 words max and must come with a brief description of how it can be turned into a film.
The deadline is October 15.
