Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation photo contest open

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is seeking entries for its APEC Photo Contest 2013. Photographers are invited to submit images that represent what facilitating economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific means to each applicant.

Participants must be citizens or permanent residents of APEC member economies: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, United States and Vietnam.

The winner in the Judges' Prize category will receive SG$2,000 (US$1,570). Second and third prize winners will receive SG$1,500 (US$1,180) and SG$1,000 (US$785) respectively

On Sept. 2, the top 10 photos entered will be posted online for public voting. The photo with the most votes will be named the APEC Popular Choice Award winner and will receive SG$1,000 (US$785).

Each entry consists of an application form and one (or up to four) image(s). Participants should keep copies of the material submitted since the entries will not be returned. There is no entrance fee for this contest.

The application deadline is Aug. 16.
