As Asia's rice heritage faces threats in an era of globalization, journalists from South Asia, East Asia and the Pacific can enter the 2008 Asia Pacific Rice Journalist Award, which awards writers who effectively educate the public on the role of rice in cultures, communities and societies in the region.

Articles for submission must have been published between September 1, 2007 and December 31, 2008. The deadline for applications is January 2, 2009. The winner will receive US$1,000, a plaque and a certificate.
