Baltic Media Centre rounds out schedule of training for 1998
The Baltic Media Centre closes out the year 1998 with courses for broadcast journalists from the region in investigative journalism, production of radio programs for young people, basic skills for young journalists and television management for producers.
Broadcast journalists will cultivate their skills in investigative journalism in a weeklong course, November 15-21. Participants will receive an introduction to this aspect of their profession as well as successful techniques used by Western journalists and discussions of the moral, legal and ethical issues that surface in investigative journalism.
Radio producers and program organizers will learn successful strategies for reaching younger audiences in a weeklong course, November 21-27. Although some classroom teaching is included, the course emphasizes practical and technical issues. Topical issues such as democracy, ecology and health will be the vehicles used to demonstrate new approaches to radio production.
Young broadcast journalists can refine their skills in an entry-level course from November 27 through December 3. Participants will learn to develop and research story ideas, how to present the story in an effective format, and they will explore legal, ethical and copyright issues.
A course in television management for producers will survey the knowledge and skills to plan and manage creative and financial aspects of a small television production company or the production unit of a large broadcaster. This course will be taught from December 3 through 10.
All four courses will be taught in English with Russian translation. For more information on these courses, contact the Baltic Media Centre, Skippergade 8, DK-3740 Svaneke, Denmark. Tel: (45-70) 202-002. Fax: (45-70) 202-001. Or visit the web site at http://www.dk-web.com/bmc/
