Journalists writing about Belarus for an audience outside the country can participate in this contest.

The Solidarity with Belarus Information Office, in collaboration with Press Club Polska, is accepting entries for its Belarus in Focus contest. The aim of the contest is to highlight articles that attempt to present a new, original side to Belarus, and explore the country beyond the label of “Europe’s last dictatorship."

Applicants can submit up to three articles published in online or print media. Translation to English must be provided if the entry was not originally written in English.

The first-place winner will receive EUR2,000 (about US$2,600). The prize for the second place is EUR1,000 (about US$1,300) and the third-place prize is EUR500 (about US$650). In addition, up to 10 finalists will be invited to attend a two-day workshop with journalists from independent Belarusian media that will be held in Warsaw in the spring of 2013.
