Journalists worldwide can attend this free webinar.

The Edge, an initiative of the State Library of Queensland, is hosting a discussion in South Brisbane on the blogosphere's role in journalism.

The event, "But is it Journalism?", is part of the free Walkley Media Talks series and will be live streamed.

"Blogs are a lot like the existing media: they cover a wide range of topics for all sorts of audiences, present a diversity of opinions, and vary greatly in their writing and content styles," organizers say. "Like news websites, blogs have evolved from purely word-and picture-based publications to include audio, video and more. Participants will discuss whether this constitutes journalism, and where bloggers fit in the news media ecosystem."

The event will take place September 29 at 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Stay tuned over the next few weeks for updates on panel speakers.
