Brazil's first Digital Journalism Week will address the topic of "hacker ethics"-- the concept of reporting ethically in the new digital age. The event is organized by Rodrigo Savazoni and Lia Rangel, members of Casa da Cultura Digital, in collaboration with Brazilian nonprofit SESC. It will be held August 21-24 and broadcast from the SESC in São Paulo.

The program will feature debates on information in the digital era, journalism blogs, journalism credibility and the strength of interconnected networks. The broadcast will also include workshops on multimedia storytelling, hacker journalism and data visualization, and journalism in social media.

In-person and virtual participants must register online and pay the registration fee, which ranges from BR$5 (about US$2.50) to BR$20 (about US$10). Registration is ongoing, but spots are limited.
