UNESCO invites journalists and media professionals to participate in a seminar on media and violence in Brazil, scheduled for March 24 in São Paulo and March 26 and 27 in Rio de Janeiro.

The event will focus on discussing topics including how violence portrayed by the media influences society; protection and security of journalists working in conflict areas; trends of journalism coverage in conflict areas (ethics, sensationalism); and the opening of a dialogue between journalists and communities affected by violence.

The seminar is organized by UNESCO Brazil and sponsored by the Diplomatic missions of Canada and the United States in Brazil.
