Castañeda scholarship available for Spanish-speakers

Spanish-speaking journalists in the Americas have until April 15 to apply for the Carlos Castañeda scholarship.

Organized by the Carlos Castañeda Educational Foundation in Miami, the US$7,000 scholarship goes every year to a master’s student in journalism at an American university. To be eligible, the student or journalist should have completed a bachelor’s degree with the equivalent of a 3.0 GPA or B academic average (according to the U.S. grading system).

Applicants must present proof of admittance to a master’s program at an American university, be fluent in Spanish, and demonstrate interest in Latin American culture and news. They must show commitment to themes related to human rights, democracy and press freedom.
