CBA offers opportunity for advanced studies at Londonнs City University
The Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) offers an opportunity for young Commonwealth journalists to build upon their education and experience.
The Commonwealth Broadcasterнs Bursary for 1999-2000 allows journalists from developing Commonwealth countries a chance to pursue a post-graduate diploma or a master of arts at the City University in London. Candidates should be staff employees of CBA member organizations who are working journalists. They must have completed first-class or upper second-class degrees within the last five years.
The program begins in October 1999, and requires nine months for the diploma or a year for the master of arts. The bursary is for the International Journalism course, which includes a broadcasting component. The financing covers air fare, course fees and allows Ј3,000 toward subsistence. It is hoped that the London Goodenough Trust will provide free accommodation and some food.
Write or send a fax to the secretary-general of the CBA for an application. Completed applications are due by January 28, 1999, and they must include a reference from the applicantнs current editor or manager, and one from a university professor or lecturer. The selection will be made by the director of the Reuter Foundation, a representative of the City University, a representative of the British Council and the secretary-general of the CBA.
