Celap offers training in computer-assisted reporting

Deadline:

11/20/07

Even in the wide world of the Internet, it’s not always possible to find the information you need. Finding the exact data you want is the theme of a seminar called “Value-Added Journalism,” scheduled for November 30 to December 1 in Panama City.

The Latin American Journalism Center (Celap, in Spanish) is organizing the seminar to train journalists in the basic elements of computer-assisted journalism. Participants will develop the necessary skills to use database programs and information networks while avoiding dubious or false information.

The program requires a laptop computer, digital camera and software needed to transfer images.  Spots are limited, and registration costs US$375 or US$720 (including lodging).
