Columbia University hosts journalism data camp

Date:

Friday, February 3, 2012 - 05:00 - Saturday, February 4, 2012 - 05:00

Journalists, students, computer scientists, programmers, statisticians and public officials can attend a free data workshop.

The Tow Center for Digital Journalism, ScraperWiki and the Knight Foundation present the Journalism Data Camp at Columbia University.

The workshop features three sessions - the Journalism Data Derby, Liberate the Data and Learn to Scrape (for Ruby or Python).

The Journalism Data Derby will teach journalists how to use data to uncover facts by identifying stories, creating hypotheses and analyzing and visualizing data. Journalists don't need programming experience to attend.

Liberate the Data and Learn to Scrape - Ruby is sold out, but a waitlist is available for Learn to Scrape - Python.
