Journalists from the Americas can participate in this opportunity.

The Inter-American Press Association (IAPA) is organizing the "Encuentro de Periodismo Deportivo de las Americas," an international conference on sports journalism in the Americas. The event will be held on June 28-29 in Rio de Janeiro.

Some of the presentations will discuss the role of general information in sports media, Spanish journalism and their coverage of sports and the challenge of mega-events for the media, such as the 2014 World Cup that will be held in Rio de Janeiro.

In addition to that, the panel “Digital media” will consider the challenges the media currently face in making digital platforms their allies to attract new audiences. A second panel, "Investigative journalism," will address the coverage and investigation of corruption in sports.

The conference is not free. Apply by April 30 for the early-bird registration fee of US$600.
