Print, broadcast and online journalists can compete for this prize.

The Public Defenders Association of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (ADPERGS, in Portuguese) is inviting submissions for its second Prêmio ADPERGS de Jornalismo. This year's theme is "Public Defender: Human Rights, Access to Justice and the Prison System."

Entries must have been published or broadcast in radio, television, newspaper, magazine or Internet between April 7, 2012 and April 30, 2013.

The first place winners in each of five categories will receive BRL$1,800 (about US$900) and the second place winners will receive a Samsung Galaxy tablet. The awards dinner will take place May 17 in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul.

The deadline to enter is April 30.
