Contest seeks environmental photos from African photographers

Deadline:

9/30/09

Photographers have until September 30 to submit positive images documenting ordinary people on the African continent and their work to mitigate or prevent the consequences of climate change and environmental degradation.

The contest, "Picture This: Caring for the Earth," is accepting works from citizens of an African country (or those who have lived in an African country for 12 months between August 2007 and August 2009). Photos must have been taken between August 2007 and August 2009. There are four contest categories.

Selected photos will be displayed in at least two exhibitions -- in Africa and the United States. Moreover, the first place winner in the professional category will be eligible for a fellowship through Agence France-Presse (AFP) Foundation, one of the contest sponsors.

The contest is organized by the United Nations Development Progamma (UNDP) in collaboration with the Olympus Corporation and the AFP Foundation.
