The Council of Europe plans to aid Albanian independent media. Genc Tirana, secretary of an Albanian journalistsн group, discussed a request from Albanian journalists for several training seminars during a meeting with council officials on media. In addition to training, council officials told Tirana and other members of an Albanian delegation that the council would also supply technical equipment such as computers and other needed items for Albanian independent media. The officials also said that the council representative in Tirana, Andrea Papakonstandini, would join the effort to assist Albanian media. In addition, it was suggested that the Albanians turn to Greek and Italian media to gain experience.
