Course in Mexico to focus on science journalism

Journalists and students who are interested in reporting on science and technological issues can enroll in a course from October 31, 2009 to February 20, 2010 in Mexico City. Registration deadline: October 28.

The goal of the course is to improve scientific knowledge and to offer tools for better media coverage of scientific and technological information. It is being orgazined by Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología del Distrito Federal and Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México (UACM).

The program will include modules on science communication in the press, museums, TV, and radio. Topics to be covered include: influenza, nanotechnology, biotechnology and transgenics, genomics and proteomics, water and new materials, among others.

The course has the support of Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados (Cinvestav) and Agencia Sapiens.
