Crime reporting award seeking entries [US]
Deadline:
Crime and justice reporters in the United States working for newspapers, magazines or online outlets can apply for an award.
The John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation will honor pieces of investigative journalism that contribute to the public’s understanding of crime in America.
The story or series must focus on an issue or issues related to some aspect of the U.S. criminal justice system. Work with overseas dimensions can qualify, providing there is a strong U.S. angle (i.e., international sex trafficking to the U.S.). The prize rewards the year's best analytical, investigative and enterprise/feature work on criminal justice. Spot news coverage may qualify if it demonstrates these qualities.
Winners will each receive US$1,000 prizes and award plaques, to be awarded at the annual Harry F. Guggenheim Symposium at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in February 2013.
Submissions must have been published in the United States between November 1, 2011 and October 31, 2012.
The deadline is November 9.
