Deadline approaching: Elizabeth O'Neill journalism competition

Deadline:

11/1/12

Early-or mid-career journalists from Australia and Indonesia can be nominated for an award.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australia-Indonesia Institute will award the Elizabeth O'Neill Journalism Award to two journalists working with print, broadcast, radio or online media organizations - one Australian living in Australia and one Indonesian living in Indonesia.

Award recipients will spend three weeks in an exchange program building cooperation between the two nations in a program tailored to the journalists' expertise.

The award covers airfare, domestic transport, accommodation, visas and meal allowances. Recipients will meet with the other winner's employers, local media organizations, academic institutions, NGOs and more.

Recipients will be selected based on their plans to promote mutual understanding between Australia and Indonesia and report on the visit. Applicants must be fluent in English and Indonesian and be available to travel between March and April 2013.

The deadline is November 1.
