Deadline approaching for science journalism awards entries
Deadline:
The U.S. National Association for Science Writers (NASW) is inviting science writers and journalists who had their work published in North America in 2008 to apply for the Science in Society Journalism Awards. All entries must be postmarked by February 1.
The awards intend to honor and encourage outstanding investigative and interpretive reporting about the sciences and their impact on society. The awards are open to work published or broadcast between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008.
New categories have been added to this year's competition, including books, commentary and opinion, science reporting, and science reporting with a local focus.
Award winners receive a cash prize of US$2,500 in each category and are invited to attend a dinner and presentation in their honor during the annual Science Writers meeting, to be held this year from October 16 to 20 in Austin, Texas.
