Deadline approaching: USAID health workshop for journalists [Africa]

Mid-career journalists from East and Southern Africa can apply to attend a free workshop in Nairobi, Kenya.

USAID and the Population Reference Bureau present "Making Numbers Count," a three-day workshop teaching reporters how to analyze health-related and scientific data to improve development reporting.

Working journalists with three to five years professional experience working or living in the following countries are eligible: Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Rwanda, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, or Zambia.

The Kenyan Alliance of Health and Science Reporters, the International Center for Journalists and Internews are also hosts for the November 21-23 event. Travel, lodging and seminar costs will be covered.

Applicants must submit work samples related to health, research or national development issues. The workshop will be conducted in English but participants may write or broadcast in any language.

The deadline is September 30.
