Deadline extended on national reporting contest [Brazil]

Journalists in Brazil can enter a contest.

The Embratel Journalism Awards, sponsored by the Brazilian telecommunications company Embratel, aim to promote news-reporting on national topics that contribute to social inclusion and sustainable development.

A total of BR$194,000 (about US$100,000) will be awarded to contest winners.

There are 12 categories of national journalism prizes, plus regional prizes for the best reports from various regions of the country. The jury will also select the best work among all participants for the Barbosa Lima Sobrinho trophy, which comes with BR$32,000 (about US$16,000).

Works must have been published or broadcast in Brazil between June 2011 and November 2012.

The deadline was extended from January 21 to February 14. This year, the application process will take place entirely online.
