Democracy and human rights reporting award open

Journalists from Eastern Partnership countries who cover democracy and human rights can participate in this contest.

The Reporters Foundation is accepting entries for its Eastern Partnership Journalism Prize competition. The contest aims to reward the best journalistic work in the area, and to support freedom of speech and professional journalistic standards.

Partnership countries consist of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

Submitted work must have been published in any medium on or after January 1, 2012. Preferred subjects include: investigative journalism, human rights and combating discrimination, democracy and civil society, and the region's cooperation with the European Union.

First-place winners will receive a grand prize of PLN10,000 (about US$2,400), or two winners will receive awards of PLN5,000 (about US$1,200).

The deadline is October 10.
