Education reporters can apply for an award.

The Education Writers Association presents the National Awards for Education Reporting recognizing pieces published or broadcast in English in 2011.

EWA will award reporters in 18 categories including print, broadcast, blogs and public interest. One grand-prize winner will receive US$1,500.

Entries must include a cover letter, URL and a US$50 entry fee for members or US$100 for non-members.

Past winners include Bloomberg News with the top prize for “Education Inc.,” an investigation of for-profit colleges and universities.

The deadline is January 31.
