Entries sought for Samir Kassir Award [MENA]

Journalists from Arab countries can apply for this award.
The European Union is accepting applications for the Samir Kassir Award for the Freedom of the Press, which recognizes the work of journalists who report on violations and violence, injustice and suffering, corruption and mismanagement, and humanitarian and natural disasters.
Three awards will be granted: the best opinion article, the best investigative article and the best audiovisual reporting. Candidates must apply individually for all categories unless the producer and the director of the audiovisual report wish to apply as a team. The award in each category is EUR€10,000 (almost US$13,000).
The award is open to nationals of the following countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Occupied Palestinian Territory, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
Interested candidates must complete and sign the registration form, along with the original article and a copy translated into English.
The deadline is April 5.
