Exchange program open for Georgian journalists

Deadline:

10/15/11

Broadcast or online journalists from Georgia can apply for a study tour and internships in the United States.

The International Center for Journalists will host Georgian media professionals as part of the Media Educational Exchange Program, designed to enhance overall professional skills and offer a better understanding of the U.S. media sector.

Fourteen journalists will be chosen to participate in a two-week study and training tour in Washington, New York and Philadelphia. Interpreters will be provided, so that non-English speakers may attend.

Sessions include hands-on multimedia work, advanced instruction in specialized areas such as investigative reporting and discussions with government officials, advocacy professionals and veteran U.S. journalists.

Two non-English speakers will be chosen for a two-week internship with a U.S. media outlet following the study tour. An interpreter will accompany them to the internship site.

Three English-speaking journalists will be chosen to participate in the study tour for several days, then participate in a three-week internship at a U.S. media outlet.

The 2012 visit is tentatively set for June. The deadline is November 15.
