Exchange program open to journalists [US-China]
Deadline:
Print, broadcast and online journalists from China and the United States can participate in this exchange program.
The All-China Journalists Association, the Better Hong Kong Foundation and the East-West Center are accepting applicants for its 2012 China-United States Journalists Exchange.
The program offers opportunities for six or seven journalists from both China and the U.S., respectively, to swap locations from November 23 to December 8. The theme for this year's program for U.S. participants is "China under New Leadership and its Relations with the U.S.," and "U.S.-China Relations after the Election" for Chinese participants.
With leadership change in China, the U.S. presidential election and the growing importance of China-U.S. relations in global affairs, the 2012 program will provide opportunities for journalists to explore the dynamics of U.S.-China relations. Journalists will learn about the economic, social, cultural and political impacts of these events in both countries. Participants will meet with government and business leaders, academics, fellow journalists, non-governmental organizations and other members of the Chinese and U.S. communities.
After the exchange, participants will meet at the East-West Center in Honolulu to report on their experiences, and discuss their opinions on how media coverage in each country can be improved.
The deadline to apply is September 19.
