Fellowship aims to help journalists report on trauma
Deadline:
Applications are now being accepted for the 2009 Dart Center Ochberg Fellowships in Journalism and Trauma. Deadline is July 24.
The fellowship is a unique seminar program for mid-career journalists who want to deepen their knowledge of emotional trauma and improve coverage of violence, conflict and tragedy.
Fellowships are open to print and broadcast reporters, photographers, editors and producers with at least five years of journalism experience. For funding reasons, the Ochberg Fellowships are currently limited to applicants from the areas of major Dart Center activity: the Americas, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. This year's Dart Center Ochberg Fellows program takes place in Atlanta, Georgia, from November 2 to 7.
Fellows will attend an intensive seminar program, including briefings by leading interdisciplinary experts in the trauma field and discussions with journalist colleagues. They also attend the annual conference of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
