Fellowship brings Latin American journalists to The Washington Post

Deadline:

3/31/08

Latin American journalists from press or digital media are invited to apply for a reporting fellowship for the period of June 15 to 28 at The Washington Post, in the capital of the United States. Application deadline: March 31.

Applicants must speak English, have at least four years of professional experience, and submit a proposal in English, describing their reporting project for the period. The project should seek to break new ground on issues of national or regional importance for Latin America and its relation with the United States. The application must also include a letter of recommendation by the applicant’s editor, and three recently published articles, among others.

This fellowship aims to promote enterprising journalism about the Americas while giving Latin American journalists the experience of working in Washington and in one of the most vibrant and challenging newsrooms in the United States”, said Washington Post Managing Editor Philip Bennett.

The winners will be announced in the first week of May. The fellowship covers travel, lodging and a small stipend for transportation in the city.

The fellowship is sponsored by The Washington Post and the Woodrow Wilson International Center. For more information, contact Dolia Estévez, at doliaestevez@cox.net, or visit www.wilsoncenter.org/lap.
