Fellowship for regional health journalism open [US]

Deadline:

6/3/13

Health journalists from Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington state can apply for a fellowship.

The Association of Health Care Journalists (AHCJ) is offering regional health journalism fellowships, a yearlong program aiming to provide established journalists with the tools needed to improve the depth and amount of coverage focused on localizing critical health issues.

The program includes an orientation, health reporting bootcamp at the Missouri School of Journalism, briefings at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, webinars, health journalism conferences and more.

Although the training is spread over a year's time, actual time away from the newsroom totals about two weeks.

The program will cover training expenses, travel and lodging costs, registration and membership fees and most food costs.

The deadline to apply is June 3.
