Fellowship sends European reporters to Japan

Reporters with at least five years of experience can apply for a two-week fellowship in Japan.
The European Journalism Centre (EJC) and Nihon Shinbun Kyokai (NSK), the Japanese association of newspaper publishers and editors, are offering a two-week fellowship for journalists from the EU-27 to promote a better understanding of Japan.
The program offers seminars by top lecturers on Japanese politics, economics, culture and nuclear energy. There will also be a three-day tour of Japanese social and cultural sites.
The fellowship takes place from November 20 to December 2, 2011. The NSK will cover flight expenses of up to EUR 500 (about US$700), plus accommodation and local transportation in Japan.
Applicants must be EU citizens, no more than 40 years old and have at least five years experience as a full-time professional journalist working for an European media outlet. A comprehensive level of spoken and written English, the lingua franca for the trip, is also required.
The deadline to apply is July 24.
