Free course on health journalism offered

Deadline:

6/1/12

Health journalists working for print, broadcast or online outlets can apply for a free course in Maryland held October 14-17.

The Bolger Center presents Medicine in the Media, a four-day course that will examine the opportunities and challenges of communicating medical research results to the public.

Participants will learn how to interpret and evaluate research findings, select stories that hold meaning for the public and place a science story in its appropriate context.

There is no fee for the course and accommodation will be provided, but participants must cover their own travel costs.

Space is limited. Attendees should be eager to develop skills and knowledge necessary for good medical science reporting, but need not have extensive experience or background in medical journalism. Apply by June 1.
