Full-time reporting fellowship offered [US]

Deadline:

10/1/12

Print journalists in the United States with at least five years of experience can apply for a reporting fellowship.

The Alicia Patterson Fellowships, sponsored by the Alicia Patterson Foundation, aim to foster, promote and sustain the best traditions of journalism in the U.S. The fellowships provide support for journalists engaged in rigorous, independent and skeptical work that will benefit the public. There are usually five-to-seven fellows selected each year.

The fellowship is full-time, although if a fellow fulfills his or her project obligations, additional freelance work is acceptable.

Grants are awarded for both one-year and six-month projects. On rare occasion, judges have awarded a six-month fellowship to an applicant requesting a one-year grant.

Fellows receive US$40,000 for the full-year stipend and US$20,000 for the six-month fellowship.

The application deadline is October 1.
