Global reporting fellowship open

Deadline:

4/2/12

U.S. journalists can apply for a five-week fellowship reporting abroad.

The International Reporting Project seeks fellows to cover international religion and other global topics overseas.

Up to four fellowships are available to journalists reporting on global religious subjects, including how religion affects a country’s policies in health, education, culture and the arts, elections or politics, gender rights, minority affairs, economic development or post-conflict resolution, all in countries outside the U.S.

Additional reporting grants are available to journalists proposing coverage of other international topics.

Fellows receive a free roundtrip airline ticket between Washington D.C. and a single international destination, as well as a US$6,000 stipend to defray expenses during their five-week travel program. Fellows also receive a US$3,000 stipend to cover costs of orientation and debriefing in Washington, D.C. before and after the fellowship.

Journalists should have at least five years' experience in any medium. Applicants must submit a project proposal, work samples and one recommendation letter by April 2.
