Applications are being accepted for Uganda’s Golden Pen Awards, which honor the country’s best print journalists. Deadline: November 20.

Besides the Golden Pen Journalist of the Year, there are 15 other categories. They include the best journalism on business, education, war, technology, sports, health, entertainment, the environment and property. There are also awards for the best cartoonist, female journalist, investigative reporter, columnist and photojournalist.

The Journalist of the Year wins a trophy and UGX2,000,000 (about US$1,134). Winners in other categories receive half that amount. The gala ceremony is scheduled for December 7. For more information or to apply, visit www.goldenpenawards.com.
