Google offers data journalism fellowships [US]

Deadline:

1/31/13

Undergraduate and graduate journalism students in the United States can apply for a fellowship.

Google is accepting applications for its journalism fellowship program, which is aimed at journalism students interested in using technology to tell stories in new and dynamic ways.

The fellows will get the opportunity to spend the summer contributing to a variety of organizations -- from those that are steeped in investigative journalism to those that are helping the industry figure out its future in the digital age.

There will be a focus on data-driven journalism, online free expression and rethinking the business of journalism. The 10-week long fellowship will open on June 3 with a week at the Knight Foundation in Florida and end with a week at Google, split between Google News and YouTube, in California.

Fellows will receive a stipend of US$7,500 during the summer of 2013 and a travel budget of US$1,000.

The deadline to apply is January 31.
