Grants available to journalism schools and non-profits [US]

Deadline:

4/15/11

US journalism schools and non-profit organizations focused on news media can apply for a grant supporting ethical journalism programs.

The grant, sponsored by the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation, aims to invest in the future of journalism, by building the ethics, skills and opportunities needed to advance quality journalism.

Grants will be awarded to four program areas: investigative reporting, professional development, youth education and special opportunities. Within each of these areas, special preference will be given to programs that focus on ethics and new media.

Last year, the Foundation distributed US$1.56 million in grants to 22 journalism organizations, including the Center for Investigative Reporting and the Center for Public Integrity.

Grants are available to all US programs. For Youth Education proposals, the Foundation supports youth education programs for high school seniors in Oklahoma, accredited journalism programs in the central United States, and top-tier university journalism programs throughout the country.
