Health reporting assistance for Kenyan journalists

Date: 9/13/07

Kenyan journalists interested in health-related issues can seek training and assistance from Internews Kenya, which recently expanded its program to include TV journalists.

The organization is part of Internews’ health journalism network—launched in 2003—which focuses on better equipping journalists to cover health issues such as HIV and AIDS and the avian flu.

The program initially catered to radio journalists, but it expanded in May to include television journalists and camera operators. Workshops are geared for six to 10 journalists. Participants are nominated by their local media outlets, which give them leave to participate in the workshop for a week.
