Integrated media program accepting applications [India]

Date: 6/22/11

A new postgraduate program specializing in integrated journalism is accepting applications.

At the helm of the new program are two Knight International Journalism Fellows, Todd Baer and Chris Conte. The pair designed a course that converges television, digital and print medium in a new journalism program for postgraduate students at The World Media Academy in New Delhi, India.

Students in the 11-month program are divided into separate TV and print journalism tracks, providing them with a traditional classroom education that integrates an assortment of digital media formats. After receiving in-classroom training, TV students will form a working newsroom, while print journalism students will go to work at various news organizations.

A series of workshops and short courses, organized by Conte, will supplement the two training programs and grant students the opportunity to work with journalists.

Topics covered range from social issues -- rural development, conflict, urban problems, health, sanitation and hunger -- to journalism techniques in feature writing and media management.
