International development awards open to journalists [UK]
Deadline:
Amateur and professional journalists who are U.K. residents interested in international development can enter a competition.
The Guardian International Development Journalism Competition, sponsored by Barclays, aims to highlight crucial issues facing the developing world that are underrepresented by the media.
Applicants must write a feature story of 650 to 1,000 words on an aspect of global poverty. Accepted themes include empowering women, malnutrition and education. For a full list of topics, click here.
The 12 best writers will be selected from a long list of around 40 entrants, all of whom will have their articles published online at guardian.co.uk.
The deadline is May 12.
