Investigative journalism contest open [Latin America, Caribbean]
Deadline:
Journalists working in Latin American or Caribbean media can submit work published in Spanish, Portuguese or English in 2012 to a contest.
Transparency International (TI) and the Instituto Prensa y Sociedad (Press and Society Institute, IPYS), with the support of the Open Society Foundations, are organizing a new edition of the Latin American Investigative Journalism Award. The award aims at stimulating professional excellence in investigative journalism and is open to all investigations of public interest issues.
The prize will award US$30,000 to the highest quality journalism published in print, radio, TV or online outlets in 2012 (US$15,000 for first place, US$10,000 second place and US$5,000 for third).
The winners will be announced in a special ceremony as part of the Latin American Conference on Investigative Journalism (COLPIN 2013), which will take place in October in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Last year, Folha de São Paulo journalists Andreza Matais, José Ernesto Credendio and Catia Seabra won the 2012 Latin American Investigative Journalism Award for a series of stories that led to the resignation of the president of Brazil’s chief of staff.
The deadline is June 14.
