Midcareer journalists in the EU can apply for this fellowship.

Applications may now be submitted for the NSK-EJC fellowship program, sponsored by the Nihon Shinbun Kyokai (NSK) --the Association of Newspaper Publishers and Editors of Japan--and the European Journalism Centre (EJC).

The fellowship program is open to journalists and editors from print and online media, news agencies and broadcasting companies. Freelance journalists may also apply.

The fellowship seeks to provide selected journalists with a better understanding of Japan, through seminars led by top lecturers in Japanese politics, economics and culture, complemented by a three-day group tour of Japanese social and cultural highlights.

The fellowship will take place Nov. 12 to 23 and will cover flight expenses (up to EU€500, or about US$650) for all fellows.

Applicants must practice journalism in the EU, must be 40 years old or younger and should have at least five years of experience as full-time professional journalists. Fellows must have good speaking, comprehension and writing skills in English, the lingua franca for all lectures.

The deadline for applications is Aug 11.
