Journalism competition to cover economic poverty issues

Journalists who cover issues of hunger and economic poverty are invited to apply to the Harry Chapin Media Awards (HCMA). Last day to apply is February 1, 2008.
The submitted work should cover issues such as economic inequality and insecurity, unemployment, homelessness, domestic empowerment, sustainable development, food production, agriculture, nutrition and the struggle for land, explained the organizers in a press release.
Awards will be cash prizes of US$1,000 - $2,500, and the competition is open to journalists working in various fields.
All entries for the 2008 HCMAs must have appeared in the media between January 1 2007 and December 31 2007. International entries must be submitted in English.
The fees for taking part in the competition are as follows: One Entry - US$25 Two Entries - US$40 Three to Five Entries - US$50.

Journalists always want to be paid for everything.When they here of cash to dished out they turn off .I agree with otis that the organisers could wait longer in vein.

Liyanas opening remark hey ! hey! first threw me out of balance even as I begun to think of parting with cash, then I posed pay and internalised the concept of pay , and concluded that journalists fellowships and training opportunties are on high demand that some people now want to entangle it into a commercial enterprise.

hey, hey, hey...excuse me!!! why should someone pay for wanting to participate in such a contest? its funny indeed. it robes the whole idea of proffessionalism. can someone please explain how this is made possible? sometimes, lets not take advantage of such things to advance our own agenda's in the name of economic poverty coverage. this is sad. next time , please make sure ur organization is good, real and practical.
