Date:

Thursday, May 2, 2013

Join a webinar to learn about covering an important health issue: vaccines. The webinar is part of ICFJ’s story contest recognizing the best coverage of vaccines and immunizations.

You can hear ICFJ’s Knight International Journalism Fellow Brenda Wilson talk to a health expert about vaccine-related issues in Africa including public attitudes towards vaccination, testing of vaccines, innovative approaches to delivery of vaccines and the efficacy or failure of vaccination campaigns.

Anyone can participate in this hour-long webinar by visiting ICFJ’s Google Plus page. If you have a Gmail account, you can hear the discussion and text in questions and comments. If you have a different email account, you can email your questions and comments to vaccinestories-africa@icfj.org.

The webinar will be live on Thursday, May 2, at 4:00 p.m. Central African Time.

Journalists who submit stories about vaccines to ICFJ’s story contest will have a chance to win a trip to the United States or cash prizes. The awards will recognize the best media coverage of vaccines and immunizations in each region.

Stories published or broadcast between March 15 and May 15, 2013 will qualify. The deadline for submitting stories is May 20, 2013.

Winners will be announced on July 1, 2013. Please post stories you enter on Twitter and use the hashtag #vaccinestory.
