Journalists face intimidation in Kenya

Date: 1/31/08

The Kenyan government placed a ban on live broadcasts on December 30, 2007, following election-related protests. The government has also announced an inquest into the media action during the unrest. Members of the Kenyan media have also faced threats and intimidation from the Kenyan government. The Media Institute reports that at least one journalist was forced to flee Kenya on January 24 for fear of his life.
